The Baltimore Orioles announced on Mar. 10 that they would bring back their popular throwback orange-on-orange uniforms for select home games throughout the 2025 season, part of several new changes coming to the ballpark.

The uniforms were first worn during the 1971 season and were inspired by Orioles legend and National Baseball Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson, who passed away on Sept. 26, 2023.

The orange-on-orange combo was only worn a handful of times during the 1971-72 seasons before making a brief appearance as a throwback during a 2010 game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The jersey pairing gained popularity and iconic status due to its unique look and popular color, along with being part of a historic Orioles photo.

The photo depicts four Oriole pitchers: Jim Palmer, Dave McNally, Mike Cuellar, and Pat Dobson, during the 1971 season, donning the orange-on-orange as they became immortalized in MLB history as the second team ever to have four pitchers win 20 games during a single season.

The throwback uniforms are just one of the changes coming to the ballpark this season, one year after a new ownership group led by Baltimore native and multibillionaire David Rubenstein took charge.

Fans will be able to enjoy a reduced-price food menu at several stadium vendors, with almost every item under $5, according to an announcement in February.

And the dimensions of the ballpark itself are changing for the second time since the end of the 2021 season.

The team is moving the left field wall, nicknamed “Mount Walltimore,” closer to home plate after three years of well-struck baseballs being stranded in the unusually deep outfield to the frustration of many players and fans.

Fans will get an opportunity to check out the Birds in the new uniforms early in the season, with the first planned all-orange night scheduled for Apr. 12 during a 4:05 p.m. game against the Toronto Blue Jays, the team announced.

The team will also feature a promotion for the Apr. 12 game, with the first 15,000 fans in attendance receiving an orange Cedric Mullins T-shirt.
