A little bit of Dewey Beach comes to Canton with the opening of the Portside Tavern. Owner Steve Roop is a veteran of Dewey’s famous Starboard, and has spent the past few months overseeing a complete renovation of this two-story space just off O’Donnell Square. The first floor houses a massive bar and small dining area at the back. Upstairs, a more formal dining room and seafood bar allow diners to stretch out. Handsome wooden paneling creates a snug atmosphere for sampling from the extensive menu of salads, soups, shellfish, seafoods, steaks and sandwiches. And the late-night bar scene is something that will look familiar to denizens of the one and only Starboard (as will the weekend Bloody Mary bar). Open seven days for lunch and dinner.
