“Come casual, dine fine” is the mantra at Christopher Daniel, the restaurant recently opened in Timonium at the site of the old Courtney’s. The sedate, comfortable dining rooms are a backdrop for the serious steak-lover: tenderloin, New York strip, rib-eye and porterhouse are served up with your choice of sauce— house, port wine reduction, bearnaise, demi-glace, mushroom, horseradish or bourbon. Surf-and-turf, as well as crab cakes, Oriental barbecued salmon, roasted chicken and pork chops are all on offer, to suit Baltimore’s traditional tastes. There’s a roomy bar/lounge next door— dubbed “FiVe”— for those looking for a more relaxed atmosphere. Open for lunch and dinner, seven days; the bar stays open until 2 a.m. (106 W. Padonia Road in the Padonia Park center, 410-308-1800)
