Baseball season is long, but it also ends before you know it. It’s kind of funny that way. For example, the Orioles still have plenty of season left, but the All-Star Break is also just around the corner. It can be hard to commit to a game when the idea is sprung on you, even when the ballpark isn’t far from home, but with a heads-up and a spot on your calendar, you’ll find yourself at Camden Yards. And when you do, you’ll likely think, “Why don’t I do this more often?”
Here are four games to consider over the rest of the season — for baseball, promotions, weather and more. If you check out all four, just one, or even none of these games, try to find at least one afternoon or evening to spend with the Orioles before the season wraps. You’ll be glad you did!
1) Orioles vs. Atlanta Braves; Friday, July 24, 7:05 p.m.
Even with the recent expansion of interleague play, the O’s don’t face the Braves often, nor have they played them much in their history. The Braves are leading the National League East and are a quality team. That always makes for a fun, competitive baseball game. The game also features one of the most coveted annual O’s giveaways: the Birdland Hawaiian shirt. While the shirt is also being given away Saturday, July 25, the Friday game is the one you want to be at because the team offers $5 Coors Lights at select locations in the stadium and it includes a pregame Legends Park party featuring live music, photo ops and entertainment.
2) Orioles vs. Philadelphia Phillies; Saturday, Aug. 1, 7:05 p.m.
The Phillies are another NL East team the Orioles haven’t played often over the course of their history in Baltimore, though their 1983 World Series meeting still brings back fond memories for Baltimore fans. Two things make this game special. One, there are a ton of Philly transplants in the area, and with a talented team, you can bet that there will be plenty of red and white at Camden Yards this weekend. In fact, when you read that, there’s a decent chance you thought of a friend or loved one who’s a Phillies fan! If you did, invite them and make it a day. You’ll find it much easier to get a crew of rival fans together to attend than you might for the Athletics, Rangers or Twins. Just make sure you bring some O’s fans to drown them out! And two, there will be an Orioles Hall of Fame induction ceremony for the class of 2026 featuring players Chris Davis, Storm Davis and scout Jim Russo.
3) Orioles vs. Boston Red Sox; Thursday, Sept. 3, 7:15 p.m.
A Thursday game is a great way to get the weekend started early! Plus, the O’s take on a division rival having an off year. So, despite the fact that the Sox have generally had their share of success against the Orioles over the years, you should be able to head to Camden Yards relatively confident of a good showing by the O’s. Even if Baltimore hits a rough patch, it’s hard to imagine the club will come into the series with less momentum than Boston. Good teams coming to town are fun, but who doesn’t want to see a win? Sept. 3 is also a Bark at the Park night, so it should be relatively easy to convince a dog-loving friend or family member who isn’t as into baseball to go.
4) Orioles vs. Milwaukee Brewers; Sunday, Sept. 20, 7:20 p.m.
This season hasn’t been perfect, but the team poster giveaway coming on Aug. 20 is a nice way to remember it all the same. In the world of professional sports, there are no guarantees any of your favorite players will still be around when the next season begins in the spring! September baseball is always fun, as pennant races solidify and you get a chance to see some prospects who are called up for the last bit of the regular season. Plus, it will (hopefully) be a touch cooler. This is the second-to-last home series of the year, making it a great opportunity to catch the O’s at Camden Yards one last time until next year. And for dedicated baseball fans, it is a chance to check out a talented Brewers squad that could be serious contenders come playoff time.
