Be honest: You’d rather be doing anything than watching the debate Wednesday night. Fortunately, the Creative Alliance is hosting Open Circle Read & Response, a delightfully artistic alternative to all that hot air.
Beginning at 7:30 p.m., STYLE editor Betsy Boyd and local writer Sally Shivnan will read from their fiction, followed by harpist Jasmine Hogan and poets Karen Fish and Amanda McCormick.
“I’ll be reading a new short story about a college girl who carries a monogrammed handgun in her backpack,” says Boyd. “And I’m especially eager to hear the harpist who’s ‘responding’ to my performance. Also, the inventive writer Amanda McCormick closes the show, and that’s sure to be cool.”
