Mongolian beef would likely be a puzzlement to Boogie and the gang from “Diner,” but “Asian Diner” is how the new Pei Wei describes itself. A spinoff of the ubiquitous P.F. Chang’s chain of restaurants, the concept behind Pei Wei is a fast, streamlined, inexpensive approach to Asian cuisine, suitable for easy family dining. The menu features lots of favorites, from spring rolls and crab wontons to rice and noodle bowls. You can select one of 11 entree dishes and have it made with your choice of chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, scallops or vegetables/tofu. Look for a second location to open in mid-December at Dobbin Square in Columbia. Open every day for lunch and dinner. (6302 York Road, 410-435-3290)
