Giselle at the Ballet Theatre of Maryland

This haunting ballet has captured the hearts of audiences for over 150 years, and is coming back to the Maryland Hall at 801 Chase St. in Annapolis after a successful run in 2021! Symphonie Fantastique: Tales of Poe at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall

If you still haven’t gotten your fill of Edgar Allan Poe after Poe Fest earlier this month, check out this musical tribute to the legendary Gothic author. This concert series, which has its Baltimore performance at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall at 1212 Cathedral St. at 3 p.m., marks the U.S. premiere of Mark Simpson’s “Israfel,” based on the Poe story of the same name.

Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons: The Last Encores

See the legendary musician behind hits like “Sherry” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” on his farewell tour! Leslie Odom, Jr. — The Christmas Tour

Already in the Christmas spirit? The Tony and Grammy-winning “Hamilton” actor comes to the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall at 1212 Cathedral St. in Baltimore at 7:30 p.m. for this special Christmas show! Odom will be performing holiday classics as well as originals from his Christmas albums.

Jane Austen’s Persuasion

An all-new adaptation of one of Austen’s most famous novels presented by the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, “Persuasion” tells the story of Anne Elliot and her former fiancé Captain Frederick Wentworth as they reunite eight years after their engagement was called off. Playwright Sarah Rose Kearns will also be doing a special free reading of her work “The Austens” on Oct. 8. Both events take place at 7 South Calvert St. in Baltimore, performance times vary depending on the date.

The Jury Experience: An Immersive Courtroom Case

Become part of the story at this interactive live theater show at the Baltimore Museum of Art where the audience serves as the jury for a criminal trial. Examine the evidence and think through character testimonies carefully, because it’s up to you whether the accused is declared innocent or guilty. The show’s ending depends entirely on the choices you make with your fellow jurors! There are two shows at 6 and 8:30 p.m. at the Baltimore Museum of Art’s Meyerhoff Auditorium at 10 Art Museum Dr.

Lena Waithe Presents: The Peculiar Patriot

Center Stage, located at 700 North Calvert St. in Baltimore, will be holding a run of performances of the one-woman show “The Peculiar Patriot.” Inspired by playwright Liza Jessie Peterson’s experience working with incarcerated populations, the play tells the story of Betsy LaQuanda Ross as she visits her friends and family in prison and tries to lift their spirits. After 14 years of development, this play was nominated for multiple Drama Desk Awards when it had its world premiere in 2017. Performance times vary depending on the date.

‘ART’

Everyman Theatre at 315 W Fayette St. in Baltimore will be bringing Yasmina Reza’s irreverent play about modern art and how it speaks to people to life—a story that’s still topical nearly 30 years after its debut. Three friends’ relationship threatens to unravel when one of them buys an extremely expensive canvas painted white and sold as modern art. Performance times vary depending on the date.

The Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera is here… in Baltimore! Performed at the Hippodrome Theatre at 12 North Eutaw St., Andrew Lloyd Webber’s tragic love story based on the novel by Gaston Leroux has captured the hearts of millions during its legendary 35-year run on Broadway. Now, the legendary musical will be performed in Baltimore for a weeklong engagement as part of its multi-year North American tour. Performance times vary depending on the date.

Curator Tour: Coffee, Tea, Tobacco, Betel, and Wine in Asian Art

Some of the pottery and glassware now displayed in museums was once used for enjoying tea or coffee with friends. Ani Proser, Senior Curator and Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Quincy, Scott Senior Curator of Asian Art, will be leading attendees through a tour of unique pottery pieces at The Walters Art Museum at 600 N Charles St. in Baltimore and how they were once used across various Asian cultures, as well as the practices associated with drinks and drugs during different time periods. The tour runs from 2 to 2:30 p.m.

Fire Fest

If you’re curious about ceramics, this event at Baltimore Clayworks is a must-see. Visitors can watch live demonstrations of traditional Chinese and Japanese pottery methods, or test their strength at the Clay Olympics, where they have the chance to win handmade clay pieces. There will also be live music by Todd Marcus. All proceeds help fund Baltimore Clayworks’ educational programming. This event takes place at 5707 Smith Ave. from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Cheers to 30 Years! AVAM’s Birthday Bash

One of Baltimore’s quirkiest art museums is celebrating its 30th anniversary! Join the American Visionary Art Museum at 800 Key Hwy for a full day of fun, including guided exhibit tours, talks with local artists, art workshops and more.
