It should come as no surprise: Superstar Maryland chef Cindy Wolf and her restaurant Charleston (co-owned with Tony Foreman)—in Harbor East—are up for more prestigious culinary awards.

Wolf has been named a semi-finalist for the James Beard Foundation Award in the Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic category. So this is the fifth time she’s been a semifinalist for this award since 2006! Charleston has been recognized for its excellent wine as a semifinalist in the Outstanding Wine Program category as well (Foreman is the wine director, you may know). This is also the fifth nomination for Charleston in that category.

Wolf and Charleston are the only Maryland chef and restaurant to be named in the awards. Chef Spike Gjerde of Woodberry Kitchen here in Baltimore won the Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic award last year. Let’s hope the local winning streak continues. Cheers to Charleston!
