Check out the winners of the Volvo Road Trip Sweepstakes!
It’s always a great time to explore the beauty of the Chesapeake Bay, and touring in the all-new Volvo S80 makes it more enjoyable than ever. Whether visiting the quaint Victorian town of St. Michaels, sightseeing along the historic streets of Easton or taking the ferry between Oxford and Bellevue, there’s plenty for landlubbers and seafaring folk to do and see.
As one of the winners of the Volvo Road Trip Sweepstakes, Diane Seegull and her husband Larry enjoyed a relaxing weekend in the Easton/St. Michael’s area and use of a brand new Volvo S80 to enjoy all the magnificent sights of the Chesapeake region. “We really enjoyed driving the Volvo S80 to the Eastern Shore. It’s a very comfortable and fun car to drive.” The Inn at Perry Cabin provided the couple with perfect accommodations for a romantic weekend getaway and Diane and Larry enjoyed delicious meals at Mason’s and The Crab Claw restaurant. Along their travels, the couple immersed themselves in the Chesapeake Bay’s rich history and culture by visiting The Academy Art Museum, the Museum at the Historical Society of Talbot and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, where they climbed the lighthouse for spectacular views. “The museum looked great and we plan to come back in the spring with our sons to really take time and see all the exhibits,” Diane says. When Diane and her husband return in the spring, they look forward to sailing on the H.M Krentz, The Lady Patty and the Oxford-Bellevue Ferry, as well as enjoying a round of golf at the Hog Neck Golf Course, all compliments of the Volvo Road Trip Sweepstakes. The couple also won a pair of BSO tickets and a 2GB iPod loaded with BSO music. Diane and her husband thank Volvo, Alter Communications, and all the participating businesses for a memorable getaway to the Chesapeake Bay region.
No matter when you hit the road, it’s always the perfect time to get into the all-new Volvo S80 and head toward Garrett County and the breathtaking beauty of Deep Creek Lake. Outdoor aficionados and adventure-lovers alike will appreciate the scenic views and unlimited activities, including fishing, boating, whitewater rafting, and more, that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
In early November, Beth Haneke and her brother Ben embarked on their Volvo Road Tip to the Deep Creek area. After a quick introduction on the features of the Volvo S80 that they would be driving for the weekend, they headed towards Garrett County. On Saturday, they began their weekend at the Fireside Deli for lunch and a wine tasting where they enjoyed hot Panini’s and received a complimentary bottle of wine. “I have to say that was probably one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had! It was absolutely delicious,” Beth said. Later that day, Beth and Ben went to Pleasant Valley Dream Rides for a horse-drawn carriage ride through the Amish farm community. During their trip, Beth and Ben enjoyed meals at the Cornish Manor Inn and Little Sandy’s Restaurant. The Mountain Coaster, a single car coaster that takes you spiraling through the woods, didn’t appeal much to Beth because of her fear of heights. So, Beth gave her tickets to their server at Little Sandy’s for her to use with her grandchildren. Their lake-front timber-framed home, provided by Coldwell Banker Deep Creek Realty, came equipped with everything they needed for the weekend including a pool table, massaging recliner, internet access, and decks with spectacular views. Beth recalls, “I found the Master Suite and looked out the back door to find a hot tub! Forget the bathtub; I know where I’m soaking!” On Sunday, Beth and Ben visited the B&O Railroad 1884 Queen Anne Station and Adventure Sports Complex International. After a busy and exciting weekend, Beth says she slept like a baby in the Volvo S80 on the ride home to Annapolis.
