Kettle Hill

Named after Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders’ famed battle for Kettle Hill during the Spanish-American War, this new downtown eatery’s interior hearkens back to its rugged 19th-century inspiration with distressed leather booths, exposed brick and rustic reclaimed barn wood. The food is as substantial as the surroundings, with bison, beef and bacon meatloaf and the monstrous Roosevelt Burger ( two beef patties, barbecued pork, bacon, jack cheese and a fried egg— all on a bun). If the carnivorous entrees are too rough a ride for you, there are plenty of options at the restaurant’s raw bar and on the dessert menu, including the intriguing Krispy Kreme Donut Bananas Foster. Open Tuesday through Sunday for dinner and Sunday for brunch. 32 Market Place, 443-682-8007, http://www.kettle-hill.com —T.C.
