Occupying a sunny corner of the LEED Gold-certified Miller’s Court building on Howard Street is Charmington’s, a friendly and welcoming café owned and run by nine folks who used to work at the café at Bluehouse in Harbor East. The owners make most of the food in-house, including soups, muffins and scones. Though they source most of their food locally, they went out of state to offer direct-trade Counter Culture Coffee from North Carolina. And several of the owners have been trained in “latte art,” so when you order your drink, ask for a rosetta decoration on top. 2601 N. Howard St., 410-235-5004 —Laura Wexler
