City Smart: Philadelphia

To market, to market, to taste the delights of Chef Eli Kulp. May not have the same ring as Mother Goose, but when you consider that in just one year High Street on Market scored the No. 2 spot on Bon Appetit’s Best New Restaurant list, it’s worth singing about. The bakery’s vibe/menu change through-out the day. Try the Hickory Town: Lancaster bologna, farm egg, Amish horseradish cheddar, gherkin mayo and fried red onions on a gorgeous Kaiser roll. For dinner, do the “Leave it to Us” ($50 per person), where the kitchen sends out small plates (think pork and nectarines or angry crab spaghetti) based on whatever is in season.

Never miss a story.
