Savvy just loves a fun little trip filled with shopping, spas, exciting restaurants and a fabulous hotel. Is there anything better? She often takes the train to New York to indulge, but recently Savvy felt like a chance of pace and caught a quick Southwest flight to Chicago (www.southwest.com, $140 round trip, less than one-way on the Acela!). Her trusty driver from Metropolitan Limousine (312-808-8000) picked her up at Midway and whisked her off to the Four Seasons (120 E. Delaware Pl., www.fourseasons.com, from $350). Savvy’s former Chicago home had been the Peninsula, but after her weekend at Four Seasons, she’ll never stay anywhere else. While both hotels offer similarly wonderful five-star rooms and public spaces, Savvy was simply dazzled by the service offered by every member of the Four Seasons staff. The concierge staff is a standout but her visit to the spa was a delight (as is the pool and gym). From housekeeping to the bartender at the Seasons, no detail is left to chance and no request is not cheerfully handled. For lunch, Savvy loves the French and American classics at the austere yet serene Blackbird (619 W. Randolph St., 312-715-0708). Saturday night still belongs to the sophisticated, smart, exciting MK (868 N. Franklin St., 312-482-9179). Enjoy the gorgeous Chicago early summer weather and stroll down to Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Gucci and every other wonderful major store on Michigan Avenue. Now that’s a way to spend a weekend!
