Starting today the Mason Dixon Master Chef Tournament begins. 32 Chefs…Sixteen Weeks…One Champion.
Top Chefs Battle for the Title of Mason Dixon Master Chef- All for a Good Cause- Moveable Feast

According to Examiner.com’s, Restaurant Examiner, Jessica Lemmo (who will serve as a Judge) each team will consist of an executive chef and a sous chef. This sixteen-week competition is being held at the Grand Ballroom of the historic Belvedere Hotel, in Baltimore. Tonight will kick off the two evenings per week for 16 weeks. Each evening starts right with a happy hour at 5 p.m. and dinner served at 6:30 p.m., followed by the competition at 8 p.m. and judging beginning at 9 p.m.

First up tonight to compete is Stephen Carey of Milan when he faces Mark Ricker of Morsel. Then on Tuesday, May 11, Matthew Merkel of The Reserve takes on Antonios Minadakis of Jimmy’s Famous Seafood.

A panel of judges, including industry experts, local celebs, and attendees will determine the winning teams. One of three local food experts will rotate as emcee of the event, including Sergio Vitale, Damon Hersh and Jerry Pellegrino.

TWO WAYS TO GO
1)  General Admission tickets ($55 each, including tax and gratuity) gets you to your choice of a gourmet four-course meal from a specially designed menu created by Chef Timothy Dore of Truffles Catering at The Belvedere. General Admission ticket holders are also eligible for random selection as a guest judge for that evening’s competition.

2) Judging Experience tickets, at $75 each, include a gourmet four-course meal, reserved VIP seating, and assure that guests get to taste and vote alongside the tournament’s celebrity judges.


*Ten percent of net proceeds from each ticket sale go to the event’s charity partner, Moveable Feast, a local nonprofit organization that delivers nutritious meals to people living with HIV/AIDS, breast cancer and other life threatening condition according to the events website.
