BUON COMPLEANNO
For those of you not well versed in the Italian language “Buon Compleanno” means Happy Birthday and Little Italy resident Mr.John Pente recently celebrated his 100th birthday. He was born in the house in which he still resides today, on the corner of High & Stiles Streets. He and his family last year were awarded the first “Centennial Homes Award” by Baltimore City for the house that has been in the Pente family for more than a century. According to a story on WJZ’s website, Mr. Pente’s grandparents bought the 11-room house in 1904 for $2,000.
Mr. Pente allows the annual summer movies series to be projected from his third floor window onto the big screen across the street every Friday night in July & August for the Open Air Film Festival sponsored by the Little Italy Restaurant Association. He is often seen sitting outside his house on the aligning chairs where his many longtime neighbors and friends stop to chat. So if you’re in the neighborhood tell “Mr. John” Buon Compleanno and many more.

GREENE TURTLE-TOWSON-ALL IN THE FAMILY
As of this week the Greene Turtle/Towson franchise is under a new family ownership. The husband and wife team of Jill and Bill Packo have partnered up with Jill’s brother Jeff Guidera and cousin John Zungailia to bring their Fells Point location’s success, north. Unlike the speed of a turtle I hear fast -fun changes are on the horizon, so stop in and check it out or join them on Facebook to see all the events they will be hosting. Located at 408 York Road, in the heart of Towson next to the library, the Greene Turtle is a fun, family friendly environment. Believe me, I speak from recent experience. I was in there last night celebrating the Loyola Dons lacrosse victory over fierce rival, Calvert Hall and was surprised at the ease of parking.

ANNE’S FABULOUS FIND
SUSHI POPPERS
I found out about this product through Baltimore’s best Foodie writer, Dara Bunjon, and if you don’t follow her works on twitter-DiningDish or Examiner.com you’re really missing out on all things YUM in Charm City.
But anyway, I went online, http://www.sushipopper.com and ordered the California Roll pack that was delivered next day. I opened the box put the poppers in the freezer and left one out to to thaw and taste test this cool idea. Out of ten, I give Sushi Poppers an eight. Very handy…. A few days later I grabbed one out of the freezer put it in my bag and enjoyed an hour later at a lacrosse game. The product is GREEN too, no chopsticks needed, so it saves trees!
$34.99-six pack (less than $6 a roll)
