The Stylish Traveler

I Love Paris in the Springtime but I’m Crazy About Rehoboth in the Fall.

Just returned from a weekend jaunt to The Bellmoor Inn and Spa in Rehoboth and loved every off-season minute.

For starters, it’s stunning.  Elegant furnishings permeate the place.  Oriental rugs top perfectly polished Brazilian cherry floors. Creamy leather sofas and cut velvet chairs, marble topped chests and interesting collectibles make the dark paneled lobby, library and sunroom feel more like a private club than a beach hotel.

BellmoorOur second-floor corner room was big and bright with a gas fireplace flanked by two comfortable wing chairs. After our long chilly (and romantic!!!) beach walks—the hotel is two blocks from the Atlantic—we’d flick the switch and snuggle up next to the fire. Or, head to the game room on the Inn’s main level to assemble a huge puzzle.  Or stroll into town to check out the snazzy boutiques, a stone’s throw from the hotel.

Or, experience the Inn’s worth-writing-home-about spa.

The spa may be small in square footage but it is huge on top-notch talent. The stress-busting 80 minute hot stone and deep tissue massage expertly administered by Lin, my masseuse, eliminated every kink in my muscle and thought in my head.  Some massages are memorable. This is one of them.

BellmoorEach a.m. we’d linger over the Bellmoor’s complimentary buffet breakfast, a sumptuous selection of made-to-order omelets, Pennsylvania Dutch sausages, apple wood bacon, French toast or house-made raisin scones and blueberry muffins.

Evenings were spent meeting friends at Restorante Zebra where we are spoiled by fine Italian cuisine in a candle-lit Victorian house or more casual dining at Henlopen City Oyster House. Both a short walk from the Inn.

While we were away for only two nights we left Rehoboth relaxed and rejuvenated. Ahh, we discovered an oasis where we’d like to become regulars.
