Usually the buzz in Naples, Florida is about fine wines but this season it’s all about fine chocolates—Norman Love chocolates.
Love, a master chocolatier and pastry artist, recently opened a Euro chic Chocolate Salon in the Park Shore Centre. This contemporary space is a combination of fancy confection shop and coffee bar. And, a great place to linger.
Let me set the scene:
Hand-painted chocolates and pastries worthy of a diet splurge are displayed like edible works of art. Over 30 flavors including ginger lime, passion fruit, cinnamon roll or pistachio tempt me on each visit but today my heart belongs to tiramisu. Not to mention Venezuelan chocolate, Tahitian chocolate or apple a la mode—it’s impossible to pick just one.
Coffee is brewed to order and even if you don’t order a chocolate or fancy dessert to go with it, the pretty white china cup arrives with a tiny sweet treat on the plate, a nice European touch I wish more American coffee shops would duplicate.
While this master craftsman of ultra-premium handcrafted chocolates has been satisfying the palates of chocolate connoisseurs since 2001, this place is only his second Chocolate Salon; the first is in Fort Myers.
There are many reasons we enjoy escaping to Naples each winter. This place is one of them.
