Furocious
The newest heir to the British throne, according to reports confirmed by various news sources, is a darling female Jack Russell Terrier (JRT) named “Beth.” Adopted by Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Beth has joined the royal household at Clarence House. FUROCIOUS tips her tiara to the royal who – at the very least – is supporting a cause beyond the photo op of nearly a year ago when she helped open the new cattery at London’s Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. The shelter celebrated its 150th Anniversary last October.
According to a statement posted on the rescue’s website, Battersea’s chief executive, Claire Horton says, “Beth is a charming, confident little puppy and we know she will be very happy in her new home,”
Prince Charles and Camilla are fond of the JRT breed and look forward to introducing Beth to their other two JRT’s, Tosca and Rosie. According to reports, Beth was 12 weeks old when she entered the shelter in July which took in over 100 unwanted, homeless dogs that month. Reports are that Camilla was immediately smitten with the little Beth from the very first of the photos that were emailed to her.
FUROCIOUS is hopeful that this very public display of shelter pet adoption will boost the awareness that shelter dogs come in all packages from the pedigreed to mixed breeds, making for exceptional pets in every household, royal or not.
