Baltimore County’s Cool Cat Carrier Program - Two Weeks Left

Other than some occasional cat-sitting with Tigger, or perhaps contemplating the Universe late night with Bugsy, my two neighbor kitties, FUROCIOUS rarely flies on the feline side.  However, with only 2 ½ weeks left of this FREE cat carrier program through Baltimore County’s Animal Shelter, FUROCIOUS is buzzing by the whiskered set to make mention of this great adoption bait.

Cats can be adopted from the Animal Shelter (13800 Manor Road; Baldwin, MD) Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost to adopt a cat is $65, and, along with your new feline companion, includes:

 A veterinary exam
 The first set of vaccinations
 Cat license
 Micro-chipping
 Discount certificate for spaying or neutering
 “Welcome home” pack to help get the cat off to a good start
 Cat carrier – during the month of August only!

FUROCIOUS knows an investment in a pet carrier can be anywhere from $20-$90 and up – so this is a great savings and purr-ific incentive.  Traditionally, summer months are the busiest time of year for the Animal Shelter, where cats account for 64 percent of all incoming animals.  Last year, the Animal Shelter took in 3,791 cats.

“I encourage anyone who is looking to adopt an abandoned or neglected cat, to please do so this month,” said County Executive Kevin Kamenetz. “Animals deserve our respect and compassion. Please help us give these homeless creatures a place where they can survive and thrive.”

Baltimore County law requires that all cats have an annual license tag, including those that live indoors.  The Baltimore County Department of Health officials strongly encourage residents to have their cats spayed or neutered, taken to a veterinarian for regular care, and safely confined indoors (FUROCIOUS gives a loud woof on these guidelines, especially the last one. There is nothing more annoying to tail waggers than a loose cat taunting and mocking the leashed).

Thanks to Baltimore County for the purricious program! High-paw.
