I agree with everything except the long skirts and I assume you’re talkin’ ankle length. I’m tall so they look OK on me but my petite friends just look shorter. One friend claimed that wearing an ankle length skirt made her look like she was playing dress up in her mother’s clothes.

Probably not PC to say so, but being an near six foot tall woman, looking shorter (without slumping) has always been one of my goals.
My fantasy is that, like the Emperor’s new clothes, someday someone will wake up and notice that black is boring.

I have no problem expressing myself through my clothing. I do confess to lately carrying a huge tote-purse. (and it’s a mess) But that’s because I’m hauling on site work supplies in addition to everything else, so I have an excuse.
Posted by sally mericle on 08/23/07 at 10:23 AMOh my goodness, a big yes to ALL these. And here is one more from a Florida-based fashionphile: it may be swelteringly hot, but if the sun has set and you’re going to a restaurant even marginally more formal than a hot-dog cart, please take the extra five minutes to change out of your shorts and flip-flops and don something a bit more elegant, say a sundress and strappy sandals, or a pair of linen pants (flat front, of course) and a camisole. Far be it from me to suggest women must be uncomfortable, but for those of us who love fashion, it’s terribly depressing to sit down, order a lovely bottle of wine, and look around at a restaurant filled with people who look as though they walked in from a day-long high school beach party. Just saying.
