‘Rock’n'Roll’ Wine Dinner at Fleming’s

March 14 & 15
Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar hosted a rock’n'roll-themed wine dinner on Saturday night at their restaurant in Harbor East. A group of about 30 or so took over a private dining room for the evening’s dinner (goat cheese & tomato crostini, shrimp & blue cheese dipping sauce, filet mignon with sauteed chard and whole grain fries, and brownie sundaes) that was accompanied by wines made by rock’n'roll legends, including drummer Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac and Bruce Cohn, manager of the Doobie Brothers. Throughout the evening, rock-related trivia games were played, and much wine was consumed. It was a convivial crowd, though the only familiar face I spotted was that of WBAL-TV’s Donna Hamilton. When the dinner was beginning to break up, we made stops at Cinghiale and finally Pazo, before calling it a night.

Sunday was the annual St. Patrick’s day parade which, despite the damp, chilly weather, drew thousands all along the parade route downtown. As usual, we had a group descend on Mick O’Shea’s to watch the passing parade. Then it was on to Little Havana, where I met up with Melissa Lembo, Chris Whisted, Denis Nash, Dennis Porter, Lisa Schatz, Jim White, Stacy Swann, Celeste Corsaro and Scooter Holt. And that’s just the pre-gaming. I will be out to celebrate the St. Patrick’s Day holiday on Tues. at Claddagh Pub in Canton.
