This year’s Meals On Wheels extravaganza was held at the Hippodrome on a rainy Monday night. Inside though, the party went on in high gear. My buddy (and town bon vivant) Jim Burger and I met up and strolled in to the fray. I ran into old friends Dave & Missy Berger, Dirk Himebaugh, Rita St. Clair and lots of others as we made a lap of the place to take in some of the culinary offerings. Chef Jerry Pellegrino opted to be a guest this year, but his kitchen crew, including chef Levi Briggs, was there to serve up hot vittles from the Corks kitchen. I chatted with some of my favorite chefs including Nancy Longo, Rey Eugenio from Roy’s (who’d just returned from cooking with company founder Roy Yamaguchi at an event in Hershey), Barry Fleishmann and Jerry Edwards, all big supporters of the cause. Then it was on to the desserts— who could say no to cake by Duff Goldman and pies from Dangerously Delicious Pies guy Rodney Henry?
