This evening I headed out to Garrison Forest to attend the opening gala for the Irvine Nature Center’s newly-opened campus. Cocktails were served in the beautiful new main building, and a large tent had been set up on the grounds for the seated dinner— good thing, because the rains kept up all evening. The invitations had suggested guests come in their green best, and this valley crowd has plenty of lime green in their closets to pull out on such an occasion. Chatting in the crowd were Stuart & Alicia Matthai, Tiffany Zappulla, Garrsion Forest School headmaster Peter O’Neill and his wife, Peggy. Heading downtown afterward, we stopped at Cinghiale for drinks, then made a late-night stop at Pazo.
