This evening I was invited to a dinner in honor of local chef Bryan Sullivan‘s being invited to cook at the James Beard House in NYC in August. Tonight he’s prepared a 5-course meal that literally celebrates the Chesapeake— each dish featuring the best in-season local and regional ingredients. It was a hot, muggy night as I slogged in to the Pier V Hotel, but I soon had my hands on a cool V&T and was chatting with Randi Rome, Eddie Applefeld, Anne Boone-Simanski and Tiffany Zappulla. We all got to share a table and proceeded to enjoy the evening. The chef had even prepared jars of homemade pickles for everyone to take along home at the end of the evening. A brief stop at the bar at Cinghiale, and then it was time to call it a night.
