Tonight I attended the first meeting of a group of people around town who are forming a new monthly design forum to discuss issues of design, architecture, sustainability and the urban Baltimore landscape. I heard about it through Elizabeth Evitts, one of the organizers. This first meeting was held at the Windup Space on North Avenue. Probably 50 or so interested individuals showed up to listen and join in the discussion while enjoying some cocktails. Spotted in the crowd: architect Steve Ziger, artist Melissa Dickenson and architectural professor Gabriel Kroiz. The group looks to be off to a strong start— the city can only benefit from the ideas that will be hatched through this group and others like it.
