This year’s Evening of Traditional Beverages at Homewood House centered around beers brewed in Baltimore. Guest speaker Rob Kasper of The Baltimore Sun covered the history of brewing in Charm City, hitting all the familiar names: Gunther, Arrow, American, National Premium and Bohemian. It was a beautiful summer evening on the lawn for the 135 or so attendees. I had been tapped to serve as a guest bartender for the event, along with Jim Burger. We poured samplers of 6 different beers, including Clipper City, Brewer’s Art Resurrection, Natty Boh, Flying Dog and Brewer’s Alley. The Wine Source provided the suds and Alizee contributed some great food. The crowd included Sylvia Parker, Neil Grauer, Mark Letzer, Jordon Faye Block and Joe Giordano. After the event wrapped up, a few of us repaired to the dark grotto of the Atlas Bar in Charles Village.
