Mehek Fine Indian DiningI dont know where to start. I have seen a lot of Indian restaurants but this one ranks at the bottom of the list.
First of all the complimentary papadams were stale, soggy and chewy. I would have been happy if they hadn’t served those.
I ordered some fried vegetable appetizer, which was so greasy that it took a napkin to suck the oil out. The main course was vegetable biryani, it wasn’t hot like it should have been and looked like it was made a while ago. The yoghurt sauce that came with it was fresh and good. The Naan with Nuts and raisins was delicious. Over all I would give it poor rating for their service. They charged more for Tea I ordered and when I asked they said the price had increase from what it said on the menu. They were really rude about it and wouldn’t even apologize or give us the price on the menu.
Over all poor food and service, I would not recommend to my friends.

My wife and I dined here about 1 month ago and decided that we had found one of the best, freshest (outdoor-possible) Indian restaurants in Baltimore. The surprisingly light-tasting, deep-fried mixed vegetarian appetizers with a pleasing crunch started the meal well. My standard of good fare is Malai Kofta, which can be a tricky dish as take-out, but was executed well in a yellow (not red) curry base, with just the right hint of sweetness to be complemented by the peach-nosed Gewerztraminer that was well-chilled. The kofta were not soggy or underdone, but still lightly-crisped. My wife’s entree was also perfectly spiced and at the proper level of heat/capsaicin. We dined outdoors that evening, and the service was superb.
I honestly hesitate to send this review, for fear that it will be difficult to obtain a reservation in the near future, like the Helmand of yesteryear. I hope Mehek sticks around for a long time…
