Extra! Extra! Fresh fruits and veggies now on sale at the Market House

We know ‘em and love ‘em for their flowers and plants on Route 214. Now Homestead Garden is offering fresh fruits and veggies in our beloved Market House in the heart of town.
This delightful mini produce shop is packed with all sorts of healthy seasonal goodies—scrumptious locally grown peaches, nectarines, corn, melons and a variety of peppers (pumpkins are promised for fall.)
I thought the place might be pricey because of the convenient in-town location. Instead, I was amazed (and pleased) by the great price tags, especially for such high quality stuff.
We snapped up locally grown cantaloupes at 2 for $5 and peaches for $1.39 lb. Ditto for the red, green and yellow peppers—just $1.39 lb.
A large selection of yummy McCutcheon’s preserves was too tempting to pass up. In the name of research, we purchased several varieties including exotic Black Raspberry.
Goodie tip: For an ideal no-fat summertime treat, slather a dollop of McCutcheon’s Black Raspberry preserves onto a slab of warm crusty country bread from Atwater’s (the new deli a few steps away in the Market House). Pair it with a cup of freshly-brewed java and voila. Nirvana.
