Enjoy the journey to Kokopelli

Gosh, I hate that worn out cliché, “Something for everyone.” But that is the first thing that comes to mind as I stroll through Kokopelli, a new arrival on Main Street in the former Chesapeake Trading Company location.
My dressy ‘me’ gravitates to a chic little black dress edged in rows of tiny ruffles ($124). The carefree roll-it-in-a-ball-and-pack fabric is ideal for world travels sans a wrinkle. A few steps away, a pumpkin colored foul weather jacket satisfies my heartier side. It’s ideal for hiking. ($74)
Adorable wooly hats, one-of-a-kind handmade sweaters and shawls, handbags, belts and artsy jewelry range from casual to black tie.
Clothes for guys are no-nonsense. Jackets, sweaters and shirts are designed for warmth and comfort, not a highfalutin fashion runway.
Kids’ books, games and irresistible piggy banks (some even have wings) are hardly standard fare.
Teens through Granny agree on one thing: Troll beads. This clever concept lets you design your own bracelet or necklace by mixing and matching blown glass, semi precious stone or sterling silver beads in the color and shapes you like best.
A lot of what I loved about Chesapeake Trading Company is still here—the magnificent hand-carved birds by artist Lance Lichtensteiger and one of the best Vera Bradley handbag and luggage collections around.
If you don’t see anything to wear, have a nibble. A tin of Crab House Crunch – gourmet peanut butter squares with Chesapeake Bay seasonings ($8) is impossible to pass up.
If nothing strikes your fancy, just enjoy the messages dotted about on pillows or signs including my favorite:
Enjoy the Journey
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take but by the number of moments that take your breath away.
