Bay Wolf RestaurantOn Monday 8/4/08 my wife and I went to the Baywolf for dinner based upon the recommendation of a local motel owner who stated that the food was good and that the resteraunt was one of her local favorites. This is located in a small bayside town known for its local seafood. As we entered in the area between the kitchen and the dinign area and found ourselves standing and waiting alone as there was no staff on duty in this area, we took a few moments to look over the menu for the day which stated it wa the MONDAY menu. fter a few minutes a female with a eurpopean (possible german) accent approched us and asked if we wanted to be seated etc she then took us to a tiny little table sandwiched between a wall, a dinign area and a doorway into the bar area and seated us there. I had to slide the table down from the wall it was so tight. After a few minutes a heavy set male waiter approcahed us intoduced himself and asked if we would like to place a beverage order we did so. When he returned he provided us with our first clue that we were in serious trouble, he stated that there were several things that they were out of but that he would not tell us what they were so that way we would not know, and then left us to review the menus from Chef Karl and decide. Needless to say when he returned to take our order my wife attempted to place her order for a shrimp dish and you guessed it they were out of shrimp, well that took out my appetizer as well as her main course so we needed more time to review the menu again, we then tried a second time I ordered the clams casino as an appetizer the german veinerschnitzel as my main course and my wife decided she would have the steamed clams as an appetizer and a pork dish. You guessed it after the server took our order he returned to the table several minutes later and stated that they had no “fresh clams” and that she needed to order something else but that my clams casino would be ok thus indicating the either are frozen or otherwise not prepared fresh….so she decided to go for a soup etc.. we eventually got my clams casino and her soup it was acceptable, nothing wrong but also nothing to rave about. Then came our salads again acceptable nothing wrong nor nothing special. Along the way we were able to get an additional beer etc after approx a 30 minute fromt he time we had finished our salad we heard a crash from the kitchen and you guessed it our trusty server returned and stated “did you hear that crash”......and then proceeded to remove the towel which he had been holding on his hand to show us the cut he had obtained doing whatever gymnastics he was involved in and stated that her dish had dropped and that chef Karl was rushing her another one…no this is approx 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 and a half hours after we had sat down initially. At that point my wife went and told the hostess with the accent that we were sorry but that we would not be waiting and she again echoed that chef karl was now rushing my wife another dish, no mention was ever made of where mine was probably coagulating under a heat lamp somewhere, at this time I realized that this was not meant to be and left the bay wolf $100.00 and wished them a good day. So to summarize 4 beers, 1 clams casino, 1 soup 2 salads, cost me $100.00, I only hope Chef Karl and his crew use the money we left to buy the items that are listed on his daily menu the next time he tries to oepn a resteraunt , we then left the bay wolf and went and had a very good meal meal in a small local bar and eatery
