Flower Power

Bid farewell to dreary winter days with the best symbol of this season: flowers. From March 3-11, the Philadelphia Flower Show, a perennial event since 1829, invites people of all ages to admire, photograph, learn about and smell the roses, daisies, orchids and more. Floral designers nationwide spend more than a year planning and creating the living displays that will transform the city’s convention center into a spectacular natural haven. Each day, visitors can watch designers go petal to petal in competition or test their own arranging skills. Join an early morning photography tour; roam through “Butterflies Live!,” an interactive exhibit with more than 1,000 winged beauties; or relax with a cup of fine tea and light pastry at the Garden Tea. By no means does this tremendous showcase go unrecognized: The International Festivals & Events Association singled it out as one of the best events in the world. We think it belongs on your spring must-do list, too. Make plans with a few friends or even head to Philly solo for an unforgettable and most definitely photo-worthy day trip.
